They are responsible for guiding the spiritual life of Goreans through their rituals and prayers to the Priest-Kings. They are recognized by their white robes, their shaven heads and faces, and their refusal to eat meat or imbibe alcohol. They are also required by their caste codes to be celibate. They tend to be learned and well-read, although they are feared and often distrusted by those of the lower castes.

Derrick Slaver of Mannaz/ Multi of Val ***

Toorance a Slaver of Mannaz /NPC @ collaring

Attending Physician /NPC

-Tor Tu Gor blazed down upon the small District of the Thassa side ports within Port Kar, the thick humid air surrounds everything giving the inside of Derricks Hall a misty effect. The mornings shipments have passed through the beasts entrance of the District and the working Free of the port steadily unloaded near forty cages of slaves from all corners of Gor, Toorance a Slaver of Mannaz begins walking to each cage with Dockmen in tow unlocking the cages. The slaves are pulled from the cages and set to the coffle lines and when all silks are attached. Torrance gathers the many lines of the coffles then leads the haggard and weary slaves through the beasts entrance of the Port, through the busy markets and bizzars into the Slavers Quarter of the District. Toorance hands the lead chain to one of the Working Free tasks to the Slavers duties this day having him lead the beasts into the Slavers Hall, “Kneel” the Free Man states to the line as He guides them to the auction floor and secures the lead ring to a slavers spike. <c>

<c> Derrick , Slaver of Mannaz keeps close watch on the activities of the Man leading the long line of silks with His arms folded over His chest. High Free gather in clusters in the plaza gardens outside Slavers Hall waiting to enter with Toorance moving to one of the Rencors who had gathered outside and they speak quietly before the opening of the auction. A Physician of Mannaz enters the hall by falling in line behind the line of cages and Men then upon entering the hall quickly steeping to the Free platforms and to Derrick. “I do hope we have enough slave wine this time, I cant understand how an entire crate of serving vile's of the wine come up missing between the clinic and here?”The young intern states when taking His place at the Medical trolley, and with that He double checks the varied tools of His trade. Derrick hears the Physicians comment and only raises an eye brow then enter a Vault Scribe and Merchant. “Good we can begin” barks Derrick.”Are there any more, Dock man” Slaver Derrick asks one of the working Free . “That is all for this day, Slaver” Is the reply of the last Man as He shuts the door upon His exit.-<e>

-Derricks arm spread in an impatient gesture as He orders,”Open the doors” With that the four Arsenal Guard dispatched to the Slaver swing the heavily glazed and ornate doors open allowing the Free of Mannaz to enter and take chairs in the Slavers Gallery. By Merchant rules the Slaver can not bid on any stock for Himself nor the District before or after the Merchant hours of tradings. But He is first to inspect the beasts as long as they are healthy and not deformed they all were purchased with His coin, those who he put to auction were His to decide. He walks as He gestures and begins the day of Trade and He steps to the auction floor and begins walking slowly amid the forty slave girls taking careful survey of each He passes. The Scribe on His heels and the Physician at their stations ready for their first subject. The Scribe flips through the lading bills trying to not only catch up but keep up with Derrick reading off each slaves point of orgin and last stations and is interrupted by walking into Derrick who had stopped. Fear filled the Scribe as He only crumpled His paper work against Slavers shoulder stopping Himself before any calamity. Derricks head tilts ignoring the Scribe as He normally does and He steps closer to the beast [TalaofTelnus]. A small curl of His lip a His eyes pan over the beautiful girls shaped firm body meet the bright hazel  eyes of the slave girl and in His soft confidant voice He asks, “Who am I, beast?”

”Take this one first” He states to the guards as His hand points to the beast called tala and with His other hand pulls the uncoiled scrolls from the Scribe. “We have the season upon us the Den will need more slaves as not all come back from the Tyrants luggage trains” He says as He looks over the scarce information of the beast from many point of Gor and then counting and peeling out three other slave ledgers behind it and handing back the other thirty seven to the Scribe. “Those will be on the auction floor today these belong to Me.” He passes the Scribe fumbling to retake the scrolls of ledger and dropping His quill. Derrick steps up to the dais pulling the ledger of a beast only known as tala and rolling the other nine into a coil as He slowly shoulders His way through the gathering Free. He nods and smiles to those who greet Him while weaving through the crowd , many taking chairs lined along the banisters. <c>

<c>The Guardsman obeys Derrick with a nod and immediately moves to the chains containing the beast tala making the timid Scribe scurry to retrieve the fallen quill and again try to catch up with Derrick, “Don't ye trouble me girl” the burly guard states to Tala as He unlocks the chains and a huge hand reaching for the girls forearm. His grip is tight but not aggressive as the Guard pulls the slave to stand,”Come” is the only word from the Man. Derrick stops at the Physicians trolley and hands the Physician the ledger of Tala.”Lets have them examined and given their wine quickly, doesn’t matter who I choose fo the den , some Free will spot one of them and say I am picking an exotic or a pleasure silk for Myself or the Tyrant. So get them ready quickly.” Derrick steps to the other side of the examining post and He looks around knowing the Hall is missing someone, Derricks eyes do His annoyed flutter as He reaches to the shelf holding the simple steel collars and next to it a heavy wooden box of padlocks. <c>

<c>The Guard holding Tala was large enough to not even care if the beast pitched about as He too takes Derricks path onto the dais and by now most the Free have found a chair or stand near the banisters ready for the auctions to begin, Toorance, the Brother of Derrick enters already knowing He will receive a lashing look from His elder Brother for His tardiness and walks quickly past the guard and the slave in tow only to give a shrug of His shoulders to Derrick as He steps to the Slavers desk. The Guard with Tala in tow stepping past the Physicians trolley and to the examining post, He knows this beast has done this before and expects her to comply, the girl after all was naked and posed no threat to Himself nor the Free, no threat any Free Man couldn’t handle. Derrick gives the guard a nod to relieve him of this task and to gather the others now being tagged for the den by the timid scribe. Other guards in the Hall dragging and pulling slave girls from the coffle chains then taking them to display on posts and shackles through out the Hall then the voice of Toorance welcoming the gathered Free to this days auctions echos through the Hall.-<e>

NPC PHYSICIAN – The Physician with the small vile of slave wine , her measuring tape and small note pad directs the beast to the examining pole guiding the slaves arms to the open shackles, “Keep calm girl” the Physician states as the Green begins measuring the girls arms and ankles and making note on the Physicians small scroll. The Physician of Mannaz then checks the beasts teeth and again makes note. The gloved hand of the Green then checks the slaves breasts and with no emotion or notice the girls heat and probes to take note of her opening or if virgin. Taking final notes the Physician sets the scroll to the trolley and places a palm to the forehead of the slave slightly pushing her head skyward. “Swallow, quickly girl” states the Physician as the vile of slave wine it put to her lips and drained into the beasts mouth-<c>

<c> -Toorance's voice and arms were frenzied as the auctions starts, the distracted Free having slaves displayed before them, others speaking among themselves as if plotting a coup. The activity on the auction floor continues as a line of slaves chosen for the paga den begins to form with them kneeling while awaiting their turn for examination. Deerick waits patiently watching the Scribe and Merchant trade papers logging the exchange of the varied coin of Gor. Toorance shouting out .”two copper tarsk for the slut from our Delta by the esteemed Rencor, Jarreth. Is the beast worth of three, do we have three copper tarsk?” All seemed to normal and as any other day in the Hall as Derrick holds a single steel ring with adjoining eyelets at the split in one hand and a etched Mannaz padlock in the other-<e>

-Derricks long day had just begun and the mood was light and sang of profit for His Hall, He knew the process of the Physician and the many more collars to be snapped shut around the necks of slaves but this was His first of the day. His eyes locked to the beasts as He steps behind the Physician administering the slave wine keeping a few paces away, He lets the Woman move back to the Trolley to finalize the papers for the Vault, Derrick steps to the silk Tala and places the steel band around her neck as He speaks,”You are now a silk of Mannaz, will serve its Free as demanded and with fire in your belly until your days dust” He loops the U of the padlock through the eyelets of the collar and snaps it closed locking the band about TalaofTelnus' neck. Derrick takes a couple steps back taking His place to await the next girl on the post and speaks to Tala, “Go kneel to the door” His full hand of bands motion to the exit door of the Hall,” and wait for your sisters, you all will be gathered and taken to your new kennels, harta beast of Mannaz” . The antics of Toorance continued with jovial attempts to raise bids and keep the buying momentum moving forward.-

Port Kar recognizes a caste of Thieves, any thieves not belonging to this caste and caught stealing will be dealt with according to the books.

"There is even, in Port Kar, a recognized caste of Thieves, the only such I know of on Gor, which, in the lower canals and the perimeters of the city,

has much power, that of the threat and of the knife. They are recognized by the Thief's scar, which they wear as caste mark, a tiny three pronged brand burned into the face in back of and below the eye, over the right cheekbone." (Raiders of Gor, Page 104)

*"The caste of thieves was important in Port Kar, and even honored. It represented a skill which in the city was held in high repute. Indeed, so jealous of their prerogatives were the caste of thieves that they often hunted thieves who did not belong to their caste, and slew them, throwing their bodies to the urts in the canals. Indeed, there was less thievery in Port Kar than there might have been were there no caste of thieves in the city. They protected, jealously, their own territories from amateur competition. Ear notching and mutilation, common punishments on Gor for thieves, were not found in Port Kar. The caste was too powerful. On the other hand, it was regarded as permissible to slay a thief or take a female thief slave if the culprit could be apprehended within an Ahn of the theft. After an Ahn the thief, if apprehended and a caste member, was to be remanded to the police of the arsenal. If found guilty in the court of the arsenal, the male thief would be sentenced, for a week to a year, to hard labor in the arsenal or the wharves: the female thief would be sentenced to service, for a week to a year, in a straw -strewn cell in one of Port Kars penal brothels." (Hunters of Gor, Page 304)

This caste is comprised of those who make their living by stealing, robbery, picking pockets, etc.; the caste of Thieves is exclusive to the city of Port Kar.
